Construction was completed in March 2016 for this environmentally friendly low energy new country home set in a lovely village on the outskirts of Milton Keynes. The house incorporates a variety of sustainable design features to reduce energy use. These include an air source heat pump linked to underfloor heating. A photovoltaic electrical array to provide electrical energy. Solar thermal water heating. Rainwater recovery and recycling and an off grid waste treatment plant including reed bed filtration. The highly insulated building fabric minimises heat losses and further reduces running costs for the home owner.
The design features a series of solid oak king post trusses to the family room and a unique reclaimed brick fireplace. The double height main entrance hall features a solid oak staircase. Fully landscaped front and rear gardens completes the overall design including an entrance pathway that leads to the green oak entrance porch. The external walls are built from locally sourced limestone and all the joinery is fabricated by a local workshop.
